Home Page for a Folder
A specific web page can be set as the default view or the home page of a folder instead of the folder display of a list of the items in the folder. The Welcome Page a user sees after logging in to a site is an example of a home page. It is the home page for the Home section of the site. A home page can be personalized or stylized to enhance the folder view.
To add a home page to a folder:
- Go to the folder, select Add new from the toolbar, and select the Page option.
- Enter a Title and Summary (optional) for the new page.
- Use the Content Editor to add information directly into the Text area and format it with the controls provided.
- Links to other contents on the portal or to external websites can be added by highlighting the text to insert a link and then clicking the icon on the editor toolbar. An Insert link window will open providing options to select an internal page or anchor, an external URL, an email address, or a file to link to.
- Once the page is completed, saved and published, return to the folder, open the Display menu from the toolbar and click Select a content item as default view.
- Select the intended home page and click Save. The new page becomes the default view of the folder.
Note: If there are other documents in the folder, they will not be accessible through the home page. Links to the documents need to be added to the home page or they can be accessed through the Contents tab of the folder.
